Björn Franke — London, UK

Björn Franke is fascinated by how people explore, express and control their emotions through objects.

Probing the relationship between people, their emotions, and the objects and technology around them led Franke to create “Dead Fred,” a red rubber pen-holder that allows people to release their pent-up stress by stabbing a little character (“Fred”) through the heart. “Within the last few years I have experienced an increasing frustration with the limited role of the designer in dealing with fundamental human issues of philosophy, science and politics,” says Franke.
