DG Design – Dawn Gardner — Essex, UK

"Ornamental design to me can be summarised as being something that is both organic and fluid while also having the capacity to be highly detailed and symmetrical at the same time. Designs that have flexibility within their structure, that can seduce the viewer deeper into the artwork, allowing one to gaze and ponder for a while. Beautifully constructed and yet also natural."

This London-based graphic designer collects vintage magazines, books and other ephemera, finding beauty in recycling and re-inventing forgotten imagery into works of art that can be enjoyed by new viewers. She specialises in print-based design and illustration, and also has a keen interest in creating digital collages. She says that she is constantly inspired by her surroundings, and particularly enjoys working with floral elements, mountainside landscapes and geometric patterns.
