Kir Rostovsky — Moscow, Russian

“I had no idea that ironing milk would give this effect,” he said. “I’ve heard of people dyeing with and painting with coffee, but this was totally new to me. I didn’t think I’d have the patience to create something like this. I like how the milk gives an effect that’s similar to painting with watercolours.”

Applying unusual techniques to graphic design is certainly one way to spice things up. Russian designer Kir Rostovsky does just that, experimenting with the use of real milk in his Milky Way poster. He brings the same innovative approach to his Typography Handbook, which is a guide to basic typographic terms and consists of foundation definitions and elements of typography, with examples of how to use them.
