But it’s not an attack on them; I use many of these companies’ products and services, so I guess I’m something of a hypocrite…"

Interaction and identification are strong elements in humour and satire. It's easier to make something funny by parodying something that people recognise and have a relation to. Humour is something that I (almost) always try to include in my work, and satire is something that I've always been a fan of, too.
