Born in Klagenfurt (Austria) in 1964, Gudrun Kampl lives and works in Vienna, where she studied at the University of Applied Arts. She has received numerous awards and her work has been exhibited many times in Austria and Europe, but also in Russia, India, Brazil and Mexico. In 2010, she exhibited at the Belvedere Museum who purchased several of her works. Better known for her objects and installations, she develops for some time bi-dimensional works. Velvet is her favorite material. She states "Experienced against the skin, velvet is pleasurable and erotic. It is a material with which I can create an atmosphere of intimacy and closeness."
