Tasteful
An Exhibition to be Eaten
You are what you eat? Netherlands-based design duo Mario Minale and Kuniko Maeda would have a view on that. Minale-Maeda is a concept and object design studio based in Rotterdam, Netherlands started in 2005 by Italian/German Mario Minale and Japanese Kuniko Maeda. Their work revolves around essentials and daily life.
To this innovative pair, food is as much a matter for the eyes as for the stomach and their subversive take on the aesthetics of gastronomy owes more to the school of Dada than Cordon Bleu. "Japanese French Fries" anyone? Or how about a Persian carpet created out of liver sausage, cheese, pickles, carrots and tomatoes? They have even designed a dress for Jean Paul Gaultier made entirely out of meat! Seeing is believing — Kwun Tong's APM mall gets its first taste of avant-garde art, put on specially for culture-hungry shoppers.
