Black and white and read all over!
This issue the first issue of IdN 15 Anniversary, with its theme black and white, we asked artists featured in the pages: do they regard their regard for b/w as nostalgic? Most of them don't, but they do all love the impact it makes, which some said was "timeless", others going further and claiming that, as a protest against the ubiquity of truer and truer colour reproduction, b/w is actually cutting-edge nowadays.

Our interviewees, who hail from a variety of artistic media, are united in their passion for this most primitive of juxtapositions. They are not seeking to persuade anybody to their prediliction, but would like people to know what it is about black-and-white that has such a hold over them. Readers may start to view the world somewhat differently after reading what they have to say: to realise that the argument of colour versus black-and-white is full of fascinating shades of grey.
