Studio Makgill — Brighton, UK

“We’ve always wanted to work on a gallery. There is a huge opportunity for graphic intervention in the environment – from the exterior signage to the way-finding, the exhibition design and the promotion material. It’s not just galleries that offer this kind of opportunity, however they require a sensitivity that is unique. The balance between the architecture, the branding and the artwork demands a light touch. The experience needs to feel effortless, it needs to have enough neutrality to sit alongside the ever-changing personality of the space and yet have enough of its own personality to not be invisible.”

Studio Makgill is a graphic-design studio that has “a particular talent for stripping away the unnecessary and drawing out the essential, resulting in wonderfully clean and memorable design for a wide-ranging but select clientele”.
