70kft — Redesign of Confederate Flag — Texas, USA

At the helm of this agency-effort was Gus Granger, a proud African-American southern designer who is passionate about giving the south a refreshed image it can be proud of. The new symbol is not meant to replace the historical flag, but to represent a new, more diverse culture.

70kft was tapped by NPR Studio 360 to redesign the Confederate Flag into a modern symbol that reflects the new culture of the south. This challenge was inspired by the massacre of nine African American parishioners in Charleston, S.C. at the hands of a man who proudly brandished the Confederate flag.
