What makes a good publication design? “Planning is the key. Grids are the basis of a fine and clear pagination, then comes an accurate selection of typography and a good color palette choice. Everything in the layout has to be organised with strict criteria and with subtle conceptual connections of the graphics with the contents. The dosages of spaces (emptiness/fullness) are also very important. The reader has to take pleasure and maintain constant interest in the perusal: exploring a book or a magazine has to be a fully enjoyable experience, so the rhythm transmitted to the publication by graphic design is fundamental.”

Aleš Brce is a self-taught graphic designer and art director from Slovenia. Focused on typography and a geometric visual style, he tries to adopt an experimental approach and put some custom-made graphic elements into each of his works.
