“For me, it’s much easier to draw on a small surface of paper first, to find an expressive pose for a character, and to compose the sketch more harmoniously. Then it gets trickier to paint outlines and re-draw on a large wall. On the project for the Apple Store, the characters were printed out, so I didn’t have to worry about large-scale adaptation. Whatever the technique, giant characters always look spectacular on a wall.”
