Ardhira Putra — Jakarta, Indonesia

“Pop Graphics embody a dynamic intersection of art and culture that remains relevant to contemporary lifestyles. It’s not just a specific style; it evolves and morphs over time, reflecting the shifting tastes and experiences of different cultures. While Pop Graphics can take on many forms, my work is deeply rooted in the 80s and 90s retro Asian pop culture. This era resonates with me, and I believe it captures a sense of nostalgia that many can relate to today. By incorporating elements from that time, I aim to create visuals that resonate with audiences, reminding them of shared experiences and connecting generations through familiar themes.”

Ardhira Putra is a Jakarta-based Indonesian artist who transforms nostalgia into vibrant, eye-popping illustrations and animations. Inspired by the 80s and 90s, his works are blends of pop culture visuals, reflecting a city pop aesthetic that echoes his childhood and the era of laissez-faire capitalism in Asia. His bold, retro-infused style has led to collaborations with the global music scene, including projects for Macross 82-99 (Mexico), Nice Guys Records (France), DJ Didilong (Taiwan), Engelwood (US), Yung Bae (US), Stones Throw Records (US), and Niagara Triangle (Japan).
