Beeple is Mike Winkelmann, who choose his pseudonym from the name of a stuffed animal from the 1980s, a little bear-like creature that lights up and makes noise when you cover its eyes. Its reaction to light with noise, a close syncing of video with sound, forms the basis for much of his work. Winkelmann’s short films have been screened at onedotzero, Prix Ars Electronica, the Sydney Biennale and the Ann Arbor Film Festival among other events.
