Benja Harney — Sydney, Australia

My preoccupations include geometry, colour, precision, simplicity. I'm a very visual person. I constantly draw inspiration from the texture of the city around me and I think it’s really important to always keep looking. Ideas and solutions can present themselves when you least expect it! Travel is essential.

Australian Benja Harney is a self-taught "paper engineer" and he sums up its appeal for him by pointing out that it can “be be “both strong and delicate, complex and simple all in one”. To consummate his love-affair with paper, he established his own studio, called Paperform, some half –a-dozen years ago and now makes a living applying his expertise to making high-end pop-up books and crisp paper constructions that span a variety of applications from fine art, advertising and magazine illustration to fashion and packaging.
