Blok Design — Toronto, Canada

Some 20 years ago I had the opportunity to meet Carol Wells, the wonderful director of the Center for the Study of Political Graphics based in Los Angeles. The Center archives historical documents and political posters that reveal the histories of struggles that are often forgotten. It has more than 85,000 pieces in its collection. I have always dreamed of re-designing the CSPG identity because there is no project more interesting or challenging than one that aligns itself with our own values, and that raises questions and challenges preconceptions. I believe so deeply in what the organisation stands for that it would be an honour to give a voice to it.

Blok is an award-winning design studio that works across media and disciplines, collaborating with leading thinkers and creators, companies and brands from around the world, taking on projects that “blend cultural awareness, art and humanity to advance society and business alike”. Its clients hail from the Argentina to Canada and have included top global brands such as Nike, Pepsi, the Miami Art Museum, ING, José Cuervo and Nestlé. The studio also initiates and produces independent curatorial and publishing projects. It has been the recipient of numerous international awards and its work is frequently published in leading books, periodicals and blogs worldwide, as well as being exhibited from Japan to Germany, and it is represented in the permanent collection of the Library of Congress in Washington.
