“I love the thin line between typography and illustration, treating type more as an illustration where readability doesn’t always have to be the primary goal; not to be confined by the structure of an existing font and to stop thinking of typography as simply headlines and body copy and start thinking of it as a design element.”
A CGI type designer and illustrator based in Belgium, Cockx balances commercial work and personal explorations under the name CREAM. He specialises in experimental lettering, combining digital and reality, all built in a 3D space, and often branches out into animation. Mixing styles that draw equally from pop culture, street fashion, design and music, he has created typography, illustrations and design for a diverse range of clients in advertising, editorial and fashion. These have included Nike, Absolut Vodka, Range Rover, Fortune Magazine, Penguin Random House, Johnnie Walker, Pepsi, Camel, Jean Paul Gaultier, Lipton, TomorrowLand and Proximus.
