"I think you've succeeded in designing a good pattern when it doesn't feel forced. It's relatively easy to design patterns, making a nice one; however, is a different story. It's important that it flows seamlessly, that it feels natural, that the eye doesn't focus too much on a single point, but rather sees it as a whole."

"Designing patterns is really something I enjoy. I see it as a giant puzzle; you just want to make each and every piece fit perfectly into place. You also don't want any single pieces attracting too much attention; the key is to make it look beautiful as a whole. I think that's what I enjoy most, the logical puzzle-solving aspect."
