A pair of scissors may cut up a piece of material, but CutUp Group slices and dices the urban fabric of modernity itself.
An anonymous artists’ collective based in London, CutUp works in outdoor intervention and film and sound installation from New York to Barcelona. The group focuses on the potential for disruption inherent in the everyday, such as literally “cutting up” a billboard into 4,000 small rectangles, and reassembling these “pixels” into an abstract mass image.
