I think of a line as something that defines or records, or sometimes does both simultaneously. The act of defining would include the act of connecting.
Doug Johnston's work spans art, design, architecture and music, utilising and exploring a variety of mediums and methods including installation, sculpture, photography, performance and video. Most recently he has been exploring the transformation of everyday linear materials and fibres into three-dimensional forms and structures via low-tech methods – seeking human elements in design and production, allowing for improvisation, humour and surprise.
