Ella Zheng — Singapore

What do you enjoy most about designing event and festival identities? “For this particular festival identity design, I enjoyed learning about heritage in the Philippines. As someone who hasn’t visited there yet, it’s interesting to get to know more about their culture. They have a cold dessert named halo halo, which reminds me of Singapore’s ice kacang; both are colourful and sweet. They have a unique mode of transport called a jeepney, which are beautifully adorned. I also learnt that our countries both share a love for majolica tiles. It’s these little details that truly fascinate me.”

Ella Zheng is a Singaporean designer and illustrator who enjoys experimentation, craft, and the endless pursuit of self-improvement. Trained in both fashion and graphic design, she hopes to be able to “nurture Singaporeans’ mindset towards design”.
