Facultative Works — St. Petersburg, Russia

How do you find designing for a restaurant different (or similar) to other identity projects? “We believe that the good structure and clarity of a menu is especially important, because a person spends a lot of energy making a choice and understanding what their body wants. Therefore, it would be impolite to take even more of their energy by devising a cool but incomprehensible menu.”

Facultative Works was founded from the idea of working only with “experimental and fascinating projects during free time for fun”. A spokesperson said that “after a while FW turned into a more significant studio, but the main approach to work didn’t change.” It prefers a holistic approach to design in the different fields it specializes in, such as illustration, identity, sound, editorial and furniture design.
