Hiné Mizushima — Vancouver, Canada

What makes a good character design? “In my case, if I can get people to grin and giggle and freely imagine the character’s personality and the story behind it, that’s success!”

Hiné Mizushima is a Japanese fiber-craft artist who lives in Vancouver, Canada. She specialises in soft sculptures for art-gallery exhibitions, but also makes stop-motion animation music videos, Japanese Kogin embroidery and punch-needle work. She has been commissioned by Adobe Creative Cloud, The New York Times, Etsy, CBC Arts, and They Might Be Giants.
