Each disc at the "Discovery Wall" has a dual-layer construction that makes it possible to read the wall from a distance as a single image and then, up close, on each screen information about medical discoveries and other news from WCMC’s website can be seen. The images and stories are constantly changing.
If you walk pass the Belfer Research Building, part of Weill Cornell Medical College (WCMC) in Manhattan, your eye will certainly be caught by a 4.6m x 2.7m digital installation called the “Discovery Wall”. It comprises 2,800 mini-screens set in a grid pattern behind a panel of thousands of circular acrylic discs – a reference to the lenses used in medical research. This is collaborative project by Squint/Opera, a creative agency working on exhibitions, films, animations, websites, print and branding, and Hirsch&Mann, which specialises in building compelling technology interactions between people, technology and business.
