Inge Jacobsen — London, UK

"I would characterise my work as an intervention into the mass-produced image, disrupting it through embroidery. I had tried it before with painting, but never really got anything interesting from it, so having a lot of thread lying around, I thought it would be interesting to try that instead.

Inge Jacobsen creates with found images through embroidery, cutting and collaging. The images she uses are from women’s high-fashion magazines and pornographic photos found on the Internet. These make up the basis of most of her work, although she is starting to explore newspaper imagery as well.
