Justin, Sang Ki Yi — Seoul, South Korea

What makes a good promotional design? “When I was working on my first promotional project in 2013, I was stuck on the idea of creating a personal logo. However, as an anonymous design student from nowhere, I found out that a logo alone could not make me stand out from the crowd. From that experience, I learnt that the most important aspect of promotional design is to build my own ‘narrative’, to showcase myself and find a creative method to visualise my story. So I decided to re-start the project from scratch.”

Born and bred in Korea, Justin Sang-Ki Yi decided to make a new life in Australia, where he graduated from Billy Blue College of Design in Sydney and worked for prestigious design studios Hulsbosch and Landor. In 2014 he returned to Korea and currently works as a senior designer at Interbrand Seoul.
