Kahori Maki — Tokyo, Japan

What is the biggest challenge you have faced while working on window-display design? “For ‘Japan Senses’, I started by brushing up on the Noh world advocated by Zeami Motokiyo 600 years ago, and then I learned about the world of the modern Noh actress Ryoko Aoki. While coming to understand them bit-by-bit, it feels like my cherry-blossom world is also naturally taking shape.”

Using plants and human energy as motifs, Kahori Maki creates from one single piece of drawing and extends it to form a product or a moving image, evolving her drawing into a design of space. Besides her own artistic creations, she has also collaborated with many artists and corporations from all over the world.
