Karan Singh — Tokyo, Japan

“Balance and context are important. A pattern draws a lot of attention and can be overdone quite easily. Consideration should be given to the scale of the pattern on the individual tile as well as the scale and rate of repetition on the object. Adjusting these parameters based on where they’re applied helps build up a hierarchy in a piece.”

Karan Singh is an Australian artist and illustrator based in Tokyo via Malmö, Melbourne and New York. His work is a playful exploration of Nature and still-life communicated through pattern and restricted palettes.
