Leandro Alzate — Barcelona, Spain

How is event and festival identity design different from other projects? “In the case of a film festival like the Berlinale, it is very important to take into account the previous visual history of the festival, as well as that of other sections. A crucial aspect during the design of the key visual festival are the very varied applications and media, paying attention to the physicality of the materials and the lighting conditions of the spaces.”

Leandro Alzate studied arts in Spain, where he comes from. He started his career as a freelance illustrator in Berlin, where he lived for more than a decade. Now Leandro lives in Barcelona and works for a range of international clients. Inspired by the bizarre corners of everyday life, he loves drawing “stretchy” characters and intricate environments. His clients include Apple, Adobe, Wired ME, Audi, YouTube, Volkswagen, Financial Times and many more.
