“Pop is the rebellious and instinctive process of metabolising the relentless influx of popular iconography that bombards our daily lives through mass and social media. These vibrant stimulus shape our subconscious, embedding catchy jingles, iconic celebrity looks, and memes into our cognitive DNA, making it hard to resist ‘popular’ references. The essence of pop art lies in selecting and recycling this visual waste, breathing new life into familiar images, like merging LEGO with masterpieces or revitalising faded portraits with fashion and bold colours. For me, creativity thrives in re-invention, and there is no shortage of inspiration to draw from.”
