“What I like about paper is its flexibility. I have been working with paper for a long time and there is always a new way to use it. Paper is a material that offers many textures, aspects and colours, and I like to mix all these possibilities.”
Colour, material and patterns play an important role in this French designer’s work. Maud Vantours graduated from the Parisian school Duperré, specialising in textiles and materials research. Paper is one of her favourite materials to work with: she sculpts it in 3D layer after layer by super-imposing paper and colours to create inspired patterns in volume. Her work transcends a simple material and transforms it into a work of art; her design creations are original graphics of multi-coloured and dreamlike landscapes.
