Miguel Bustos — Barcelona, Spain

“Even though a pattern is mainly made by different drawings, the most important part of my job when drawing a pattern is the colour scheme. Choosing the right colour combination is my main goal, as when I see a pattern, the first glance goes to the texture made by the colours. Then, with a second glance, I focus on the drawings.”

Dividing his time between illustration and graphic design, Miguel Bustos is currently focused on print-making, children’s books and magazines. Obsessed by “horror vacui” (a fear of leaving empty spaces), he never misses an opportunity to draw jokes into his illustrations.
