NNNNY — Tokyo, Japan

“The criteria for good and bad design could be flipped upside down at any point. And it might not even be the people who work as ‘designers’ who do the flipping. We do, however, want to be the first to be aware of it, and to help make it happen.”

NNNNY is a Tokyo-based design unit made up of a team of six creative individuals. The main thrust of NNNNY’s design approach today consists of disaster-relief design – to proactively take on work where clients are not even sure where to begin with the intention of trying to solve problems centred on the calamity around the clock. The team confronts new design challenges by assuming a variety of design mechanisms for real-world quandaries and re-conceptualising an existing dilemma to form something visually effective.
