Founded by Ariel Di Lisio, the studio was first called Firestudio, changing its name to Negro in 2005. Di Lisio studied graphic design at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and after undertaking some work experience with Puma and Bridger Conway, he decided to set up on his own, though he also maintains an office in Caracas, Venezuela, run by his partner there, Gustavo Borges.
