“One of the reasons I started my artistic career in graffiti was that I could paint my letters and custom characters on a larger scale and in several places at once. Drawing on paper is something essential and that’s the most important stage for any creation, but the freedom you feel when painting outdoors is unique, the surroundings are a great source of inspiration.”
Mário Fonseca (OKER) was born in Maia, Portugal, where he took his first steps into the graffiti world back in 1999. Nowadays, his work is reflected in a variety of different areas: graffiti, street art, illustration, graphic design and photography. Versatility is something that defines Oker’s output, which involves different aesthetic approaches. It starts in the colourful letters of graffiti and goes through illustration with organic lines and animated characters combining abstract shapes and textures that give a clean look to his compositions.
