“There’s something magical about packaging design: there’s that special moment, when I hold the box in my hands for the first time, followed by the curious first glimpse into the box, the sound it makes, the smell of the materials, the way the product is arranged. It is something that immediately brings back childhood memories. So before I even think about actual designs, I always try to imagine how the product makes me feel, and the how the packaging could help enhance this feeling.”
Coming from a graphic-design and sculpting background, Oliver Helfrich has a broad and multi-disciplinary approach to packaging design and branding. He has worked for renowned design agencies such as Studio Dumbar and Wolff Olins. In addition to commercial work, he produces self-initiated projects such as the award-winning Book Of Paper or the kids’ wear brand Beep.
