Sawdust (Jonathan Quainton & Rob Gonzalez) — London, United Kingdom

“We see technical skills as a foundation that enables greater creative freedom, rather than restricting it. By experimenting and building on lessons from previous projects, we’re able to take ideas in new, often unexpected directions. A strong grasp of our tools allows us to work more intuitively and stay focused on the concept, rather than the process. We’re careful not to let the software dominate—embracing spontaneity and imperfection keeps the work human. Ultimately, technology is there to serve emotion and depth, not just polish.”

Sawdust is the creative partnership of Rob Gonzalez and Jonathan Quainton, a London-based studio known for nearly two decades of distinctive, award-winning design. Their portfolio spans global brands including Apple, Nike, Netflix, NASA, The New York Times, WIRED, Microsoft, and Adidas, with collaborations extending to leading creative agencies worldwide. Driven by a fascination with the atmospheric and enigmatic, their personal work explores themes of light, form, tension, futurism, and sound. Sawdust’s blend of ethereal narrative and visual experimentation has earned them international recognition, with features in major publications and exhibitions at The Design Museum, Dolby Gallery, and The High Museum of Art.
