Shawn created 18 illustrations that convey Singapore’s complex social system with a focus on its harmonious multi-racial culture are printed on tiles with reference from traditional Peranakan designs.

Inspired by the late Edward Said’s well-known book Orientalism, London-based Singaporean graphic designer Shawn Soh has taken this idea of national identity and expressed it visually through ceramic tiles.
