"We pasted up a poster of paper on a canvas and then we cut the stencil directly on the canvas. Once painted on the stencil, we destroyed the matrix, the paper of the stencil being shown as the final image."
Sten & Lex are an Italian street-art duo who started out doing stencils on the streets of Rome in 2001. They were the first artists to introduce their signature half-shade technique to the world. Influenced by the stylistic perspective of silk-screen and pixel-based printing, Sten & Lex have become well-known for their remarkable large-scale stencilled portraits.
