Sword & Sworcery — Toronto, Canada

Superbrothers refers to the design sensibility of the original Super Mario Brothers by Nintendo and the name is directly inspired by the song Superbrothers by Guitar Vader as heard in Sega’s Jet Grind Radio. As the founder and single full-time staff at Superbrothers, I see the name as an aspirational design concept synonymous with style, craft and a fresh approach.

Sword & Sworcery was formed by Craig D. Adams from Superbrothers HQ, with video-games company Capy and Jim Guthrie. Superbrothers handled the core concepts, art, writing and the initial sound design. The team’s first video-game project, Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP, was one of Time magazine's "Top 10 Videogames of 2011" — an instant cult classic, prog-rock, video-game record with an album’s worth of music from maestro Jim Guthrie.
