Tait Design Co. — Detroit, USA

“Layered cardboard can be quite a challenge to work with. We have not been able to find any commercial machines in the US to produce this type of packaging, so each one is hand-screen-printed then die-cut and glued together layer by layer. We create a simple fixture during this process to make sure that all the layers align properly. This process is very tedious, but it leads to a beautiful, ecologically friendly, and interactive encasement for the product.”

Tait Design Co. is an independent product-design studio and manufacturer specialising in toys and gifts, and says that its mission is “to create beautiful, functional items for people of all ages”. Founded as a side project by owner Matthew Tait in 2013, it is now a fulltime business.
