Voyrd – Hanson Chan — Hong Kong

"One of my great influences has been the posters for old Cantonese Operas — the typography on them was perfect, with each Chinese character beautifully hand-written. And the vibrant mix of colour led me to play with rarely used colours in my work as well."

Hanson Chan is a 26-year-old designer based in Hong Kong. A graduate of Middlesex University in the UK, he has been working with Hong Kong-based studio Lomatters and also running his own freelance label called Voyrd. Hanson is a specialist in visual communication using unique approaches for editorial design: “I believe in my own style and would like to do more than just design a pretty book,” he says. “Hence for me it is really important to make a bold statement with my work, apart from making good layout and graphics.”
