“I much prefer working on a larger scale. I love the social aspect of it, sussing out the vibe of the place and getting to know the locals, and living like one. Our murals tend to be quite site specific.”
Yok & Sheryo’s nomadic travelling lifestyle of adventure and experimentation are symbiotic with their art. They say that they are “constantly yearning for sun, surf, adventure and seeking inspiration from South-east Asian mythology, animism, surfing and skateboarding”. Their multi-disciplinary practice is a continuous conversation between their own physical forms and the locale in which they are working — often responding to the various cultural, economic, personal, and historical narratives within a particular site.
