An additional attraction are the chrome chandeliers on each of the three floors, which are decorated with symbolic elements of Nike’s innovative history and help to give the store more the air of a museum than a retail outlet.
In collaboration with Nike, South Korean artist YoonHyup has created a gallery devoted to sporting icons in the footwear firm’s Gangnam store in Seoul. A mural titled Number 23 in the basketball section is a tribute to the legendary Michael Jordan, who made that shirt number his own. It captures the perfect synergy between the athlete and the technology of Nike’s Jordan line since 1985. Another painting, in the football section, is called Our Heroes and in it, he has featured the well-known Korean international players Jisung Park, Chungyong Lee and Sungyueng Ki.
