studioKALEIDO — Winnie Wu — Singapore

“In Singapore, even though Chinese people constitute the majority ethnic group, we speak English as our common language because of our multi-racial background. However, there’s still an underlying motivation to design with Asian elements because of its relevance to the rest of the region. When it isn’t distinctly poetic, I feel that modern designs from East Asia tend to be more dynamic, sometimes even bordering on the feral. Singapore is a post-colonial state, so much of that energy has to be filtered through the order of modernism to appeal to the domestic market.”

Winnie Wu has brought novel imagination to print design, poster graphics, and alternative branding, largely in the arts and lifestyle sector. She currently runs her own practice, studioKALEIDO, and is the winner of numerous international awards including a 2016 Design Mark in the Golden Pin Design Award.
