Zeitguised — Flotsam & Jetsam: Monobloc — Weil am Rhein, Germany — 17 MAR - 18 JUN 2017
Vitra Design Museum, Charles-Eames-Straße 2
As part of the exhibition “Monobloc — a Chair for the World” at the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, Germany, Zeitguised will be showing its work “Flotsam & Jetsam: Monobloc” which treats the ubiquitous plastic chair as a contemporary design classic. The film shows an enormous hovering cloud of iconic chairs that behave like flotsam and jetsam in breaking waves/surf. Poetry as a kind of algorithmic perpetuum mobile. The everyday, casual form of the monobloc is pitted as a stark contrast in this film against those of the designer and architects’ chairs. Present in larger numbers in the frame, it shows the audacity to have gained a place in the world of exceptional design by mere universal distribution.
