Typographic sculpture by R2 — Porto, Portugal

R2 was asked to create the opening page for an article titled The Life of Man to commemorate the Esquire magazine’s 80th anniversary. What started out as an image on paper turned out to be a typographic sculpture. The type was printed on a concrete slab measuring approximately 120 x 170 cm (3.11 x 5.7 ft), and weighing more than 400 kilos (880 pounds).
