BuddyMake Studio — Guo-Yu & Liang Ken — Taichung, Taiwan

“All the content in the books are taken from the little stories we find all around us–we believe that Chinese readers can discover some echoes in their own lives after reading them. The stories are inspired by local Taiwanese materials, and though the drawing style is delicate, we strive break rules and push the limitations of traditional publications of this kind. Basically, we are driven by a passion to create and the desire to share our artwork with the general public.”

At BuddyMake Studio, the “hard” skill of painting is combined with the “soft” skill of writing in a creative way through the production of graphic novels and picture books. Guo-Yu takes care of the words, while Liang Ken loves to draw. The brothers–born on the same day, but in different years–share the goal of creating work that everyone can relate to. In 2016, the studio was named a Golden Pin Design Award Design Mark recipient.
