Hansje van Halem — Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Hansje van Halem fanatically draws letters both digitally and manually since her graduation in 2003. To her, letter forms are assumptions, a carefree play field. The game is played by filling in this form with compositions, systems, techniques and (way too much) manual labour. With her eye for useless detail each character becomes a piece of art, jewelry and an ode to patience.

Hansje van Halem (1978) works as an independent graphic designer in Amsterdam for book design and other printed matter. In 2010 she initiated 'Schrank8 - Home Gallery', a showcase cabinet situated in her livingroom. Every couple of months a graphic designer is invited to show his/her portfolio in a solo exhibition. She teaches on and of in various art schools in the Netherlands.
