Jonas is currently working on various upcycled design projects, where he makes unique, handmade furniture and home accessories out of reclaimed, reused and repurposed materials.

Born 1976 in Switzerland, Jonas Merian is a freelance furniture designer and maker but his background is in prosthetics and orthotics, having worked in this field for the past 17 years in Switzerland, North Korea and China. In 2009 he decided to take a break from his career as a prosthetist in order to concentrate on furniture design. Jonas always liked to work with his hands. Through his experience as a prosthetist, he had learned to work with a wide variety of materials such as wood, metal, plastics, carbon fiber, silicone, textiles, leather and many more.
