“Every project and every client has its own characteristics, that need to be met. So the design process for a restaurant is not very different from that of other projects. The challenge is always to understand what is really needed to meet all communication requirements. What was new for me, in the process for the Huadou soy concept store, was the deeper exploration of Chinese culture. The two founders, both from China, gave me a lot of new insights into Chinese history and food culture. They also had a different eye on typography and aesthetics, which was very interesting.”
